Knights triumph in King's Court!

Another month and another Yu-Gi-Oh! set to discover! Today marks the release of King’s Court, a Yu-Gi-Oh! ‘mid’ set that provides a look back at some popular archetypes, little bits of support here and there, and 15 cards available in Collector’s Rare! All that and some hidden secrets along the way, there’s much to explore in this 65 card set, so let’s take a look!
The biggest thing in this release is a focus on the old ‘Three Musketeers of Face Cards’ that Yugi used in the show: that’s the King’s Knight, Queen’s Knight and Jack’s Knight! They would be fused together to create the Arcana Knight Joker, or be used as Egyptian God tribute fodder since they were easy to get out (at the time!). But now, more cards are added to the ‘Knight’s’ strategy! Starting with Arcana Triumph Joker. This Level 10 LIGHT Warrior can be special summoned from your hand or GY pretty easily if you’ve got any of the other knights lying around, then gets a whopping 500ATK for each card in both player’s hands! All this in addition to a neat effect where you can discard a card, then destroy all face-up cards your opponent controls that’s the same type (monster, spell, trap)! But this is just one bit of support, Joker’s Knight is here too! Not only can this card be special summoned from your hand by sending a King’s, Queen’s, or Jack’s Knight from your Deck to the GY, making it a pretty easy summon! They can also get themselves back from the GY too, resulting in some pretty neat recovery! Both of these new cards and others, like Imperial Bower and Joker’s Straight, result in this archetype getting a lot of love!
But there are some other bits of support here too! Utopia continues to have new cards added to it’s archetype, this time including Number F0: Utopic Draco Future, a card that is pretty easy to summon, has good protection and negation abilities too! Hyper Galaxy, a Quick-Play Spell card that lets you tribute a monster on your opponent’s side of the field and get out Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon pretty quickly! And also Magnet Induction, to give another one of Yugi’s old archetypes some further help to play at 2021 standards too!
Reprints are super important in Yu-Gi-Oh!, and this set has an incredibly potent reprint in Lightning Storm. Lightning Storm allows you, if you control no face-up cards (for example, if you’re going second!), to either destroy all Attack position monsters your opponent controls, or all Spell and Traps your opponent controls. If this isn’t an auto in practically every deck, I don’t know what is! Lightning Storm is an integral card right now and this reprint is one of the main reasons to get your hands on this set! Something a bit more difficult to get your hands on though, will be the Ultra Rare Egyptian God Cards available in King’s Court. That’s right, Slifer the Sky Dragon, Obelisk the Tormentor, and the Winged Dragon of Ra are all here too! They’re difficult to pull, so if you have the heart of the cards on your side, maybe you’ll be able to find them!
Of course, there’s a load more that you can find in this set, from further Dino reprints, a bit of Yang Zing and Wind-Up too! If you’re interested in getting King’s Court, why not head on over here and grab a box! And, be sure to keep an eye out for our next Yu-Gi-Oh! release, Dawn of Majesty!
