Armed Dragons and friends!

We’re getting pretty close to the release of Yu-Gi-Oh’s Blazing Vortex! This set, that releases on the 4^th of February, includes a lot of support for various archetypes throughout Yu-Gi-Oh’s history and 19 World Premiere cards! There are 10 Secret Rares in the set (including some we’re going to delve into here), 14 Ultra Rares, 26 Super Rares and 50 Commons! With all that being said, let’s delve into some of the new archetypes!

First up we have Springans, a bunch of Fire Machine monsters that can fold their bodies into weapons to attack! Each Springans monster has the ability to attach themselves from the hand, field or GY to a Springans XYZ monster you control, giving it the ability to destroy several of your opponent’s cards! Up next we have S-Force, an archetype that combines both Light and Dark monsters in this futuristic security team that seek to controls columns of the field.

Moving onto the TCG exclusive archetypes Materiactor and War Rock. Materiactor are a Dark Dragon archetype focussed on summoning Level 3 monsers to go into their Materiactor Gigaboros. Meanwhile, the Earth Warrior archetype of War Rock seeks to throw a load of their monsters onto the field and battle with them, gaining effects while doing so!

A big part of this release is the large amount of Armed Dragon support! This includes a whole new Armed Dragon Thunder line that culminates in a monster that gains more effects as it gains more ATK, as well as Armed Dragon LV 10 White that can be summoned by banishing Armed Dragon monsters from your GY! As well as those, there’s more support for Windwitch, Eldlich and countless other popular archetypes, and a reprint for Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier in Starlight Rare.

Other notable cards from this set include Pot of Prosperity, another pot card that gives you the ability to draw cards, but in this case, by banishing cards from your Extra Deck! A crazily good Link card in this set is Underworld, Goddess of the Closed World! This Link 5 monster lets you summon it using a monster your opponent controls, as well as negate all face up monsters your opponent controls on its summon! It also gives you the opportunity to negate an opponent from special summoning a monster from the GY once per turn, providing you some great control!
