Set Sail on the Azurite Seas

If you haven't guessed by now, the team at Chaos Cards are rather big Lorcana fans! We recently reviewed the Shimmering Skies Gateway Box, which is a great introduction into the world of Lorcana and how to play. November brings a new release to our horizons, and as fans of Pirates and the High Seas we are pretty hyped to explore these new Azurite Seas…

Head Bow-First into Adventure

Lorcana gives you the chance to team up with your favourite Disney Characters and race for the prized story stars. Azurite Seas comes in with 204 cards in the main set and 18 enchanted ones to add to previous releases. In this new release, characters get sea-themed glimmers. There’s also the addition of new ‘Enchanted Cards,’ which is a nice highlight to the set. These cards look like old fashioned nautical maps and so are perfectly in-keeping with the aesthetic of seafaring.

As you may guess with the title, there is a strong Pirate and Inventors theme running throughout this new release. Get ready to follow the ancient map, and to face Kakamora pirates or the whirlpool of mystery! As always, the artwork is stunning and really helps Lorcana to stand out amongst other Trading Card games. Join beloved characters such as Big Hero 6 and Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers as you search for lore amongst the high Azurite Seas. Its exciting to see that even iconic characters from Treasure Planet make an appearance to the character list in this release.

If you are local to Folkestone, don’t forget to pop into the Chaos Cards shop where we have weekly Lorcana events. Fridays are the regular Lorcana Tournament event, which takes place from 6pm to 9pm. It costs £7 to enter and includes booster packets as prizes. Saturday is the day for the Open Play League, which takes place between 10-4pm every week. It costs £2 to enter and you can earn points by playing games, helping others learn how to play and most importantly for taking part. At the end of each four week period, prizes are awarded to all players with extra prizes at the 12 week mark too!

Genius or Sea Crew??

There are two starter decks for Azurite Seas. The ‘Genius Reinvented’ or Emerald/Sapphire Azurite deck focuses on inventors and items. The ‘Seaworthy Crew’ or Amber/Ruby deck is a pirate one. Both decks are great options for those just starting to learn Lorcana. Each set is pre-constructed and contains 60 cards with 2 foil cards. They also have an additional booster pack from Azurite Seas to complement the starter deck. Both decks utilise different strategies and include some cards from the previous release; Shimmering Skies.

A Trove of Treasures

As with all Lorcana releases to date there is the exciting Illumineers Trove to look forward to! Coming in a full-art storage box with 6 card dividers, you can easily store the 8 booster packs, shimmering dice and exclusive spin-dial lore counter which make up the rest of the trove. Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet, Tigger, Stitch and Baymax feature heavily on the box, all characters have a Pirate aesthetic going on, which looks awesome. It literally is the ultimate treasure for players and collectors alike.

It’s a Stitch Up

New to the Azurite Seas release is the Stitch Gift Set, perfect for Christmas season and any Stitch fans you may know! With this gift set, Stitch has swapped the surfboard for a pirate ship to sail the seven seas. Included with this release is an Alien Buccaneer promo card, 4 lots of booster packs and a Stitch embellished portfolio which holds up to 252 cards.

Azurite Seas Round Up!

We are really hyped for this release of Azurite Seas. Who doesn’t love the cheekiness of Stitch and the loveable natures of Pooh and Tigger… The addition of Treasure Planet is something we are pretty excited about, it is such an underrated Disney film!
