Snakes Reign!

Thursday the 6th of May brings us Yu-Gi-Oh!’s next set, Ancient Guardians! Featuring 3 new archetypes, and 15 cards available in a beautiful Collector’s Rare, this upcoming set will be a feast for all of the Wavering Eyes! But let’s start off with something a bit less reptilian…
The Solfachord Fairy Pendulum monsters seek to control your opponent’s board whenever you Pendulum summon anything from their archetype! On top of that, they also have different effects based on the whether the Pendulum Scales are odd or even! DoSolfachord Coolia is a prime example of this, with targeted effect negation too!
Next up, we have the Ursarctic WATER Beast and Beast-Warrior archetype debuting in this set! This funky theme works around special summoning Synchro Monsters using the difference in levels between the Tuner and non-Tuner monsters used to summon it (instead of what they add up to), making it a completely unique and beastly archetype! To make them even more unique, Ursarctic Polari is the only Level 1 Synchro monster currently on the market, which is pretty intriguing too! Each main deck monster can be special summoned by tributing another monster, and usually also have an effect on special summon, making them even more powerful when they hit the field! What is worth noting is that these Synchro monsters don’t require an Ursarctic monster when special summoning them, making them splashable in other decks!
The final archetype highlighted in Ancient Guardians are the Ogdoadic Reptile monsters! These monsters heavily rely on you throwing stuff into your Graveyard (making some use out of that Snake Rain you’ve been holding onto!) and bringing that stuff back up with some powerful effects! Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord can be special summoned from your GY if you tribute 3 monsters. Then, you can send everything on the field to the GY, aside from anything special summoned from there!
There are also a ton of reprints here including Dinowrestler Pankratops, Pot of Riches and a lot of previous Reptile support like Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes and King of the Feral Imps! So, if you’re at all interested in this incredibly intriguing set, head on over here and check out Ancient Guardians!
