Star Trek Away Missions

Star Trek Away Missions

If you’re looking for a Star Trek game to engage with, look no further than Star Trek Away Missions to make it so!

The game is played out over a series of rounds, where you’ll be playing as well known (and one I had to look up) characters from Star Trek The Next Generation or as everyone’s favourite cyborgs, The Borg.

It’s essentially a skirmish game where you’re trying to score more points than the other team by doing a variety of missions. Each team has a primary mission and a host of secondary missions. These all provide victory points when you score them and the team with the most wins.

Each round you’ll have a hand of five special action cards and five secondary mission cards. You’ll be activating your crew one at a time to try to position them in a place where they can achieve the missions you have in your hand or work towards the main mission.

You’ll be fighting each other through both melee and ranged combat, doing various skill tests which are sometimes opposed and generally making the other teams life hell, but in a fun way!

Each faction have their own strength, weaknesses and special abilities, and I’ll put you out your misery here and let you know that Yes, the Borg can “assimilate” the other crew, meaning they convert them to their side. You even get a near little overlay to place on your newly acquired ex-federation crew mates.

With lots of star ship configurations for the board (a Borg side is on the back) multiple missions for both teams and already two expansions bringing new teams to join the fight, this is a great option for those looking for some Star Trek TNG fun on their tabletop.
