Thunder and Aqua re-emerge in Power of the Elements!

Another week ticks by in the Summer and we have another blisteringly hot Yu-Gi-Oh! set to look forward to this Thursday in Power of the Elements! This main release brings alongside it new archetypes in Vernusylph, Spright, Tearlaments and Ghoti! All that on top of further support for recently introduced monsters from Therion, Scareclaw, and a load more! So, without further ado, let's see what fantastic cards we could find in this box!

1

We begin with the cover card, Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman! A Fusion monster requiring Elemental HERO Neos, and a 'Wingman' monster as fusion material. On special summon of this card, you can destroy cards your opponent controls equal to the number of different attributes on the field, which is fantastic, especially in HERO! This card also gains 300 ATK (on top of it's already decent 3100!) for each monster in your GY, can't be destroyed by effects, and when this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you get to inflict damage to your opponent equal to the original ATK of the destroyed monster. Moving on to the new archetypes, we are introduced to the Tearlaments in this release and they're mostly DARK Aqua monsters focused on fusion summoning and sending in-archetype cards from your deck into the GY, activating their effects! Tearlaments Reinoheart has the ability to send a card of your choice in this way upon summon, making it a key card in the archetype. It also has the ability to special summon itself upon being sent to the GY by a card effect too, while also letting you send a card from your hand to the grave in the process, allowing for some very versatile plays!

Spright is an archetype that revolves around Level/Rank and Link 2 Thunder monsters, with all of the main deck ones having the ability to special summon themselves if you control a Level/Rank 2 monster, allowing you to swarm your field and set up many a Link or XYZ play. They can also synergise really well with other Level 2 archetypes like Live Twin and Frog! Spright Elf helps to extend your Spright plays, eventually allowing you to end in a Gigantic Spright!

There are a lot of generic cards in this set too, as a main set. This includes wonderfully helpful bits like Ultimate Slayer! First up, it has the important line "Your opponent cannot activate monsters effects in response to this card's activate", which is always good to see and hear! Then, you send a monster in your Extra Deck to the GY, then target one monster your opponent controls with the same type and shuffle it into the deck! Some lovely removal there, shame it's targeting but there has to be some cap I guess!

Draco-Utopian Aura is a similarly cool card, allowing you to negate the activation of an opponent's card, destroy it, then banish a monster from your hand to special summon the destroyed monster onto your side of the field! Downside is that it's effects are negated, but still, free monsters! This set introduces us to the Ghoti archetype, TCG exclusive Fish monsters! Ghoti of the Deep Beyond 's ATK becomes 500 times the number of banished monsters, but more importantly, if this card was synchro summoned on an opponent's turn, you can banish all cards on the field! That includes this card, but thankfully it will come back the Standby Phase of the next turn. Pretty drastic, but could be a great board wiper!

And as usual, there are loads of other cards to look forward to in this set! Support for other archetypes we haven't even touched on here like Exosister, Melffy, P.U.N.K., Gem-Knight, Branded, Dogmatika, Rikka, Vendread, Icejade and more! So, make sure to head on over to the product pages for the Booster Boxes and Booster Packs, keep an eye out for singles soon after release and follow us on TikTok and Youtube for livestreams and highlights videos opening up this magnificent looking set!
