If you know anything about twilight imperium then it meets those expectations. It is an epic board game in all senses of the word. Expect to play it for 6 hours as a minimum but if you have the right group you’ll have a great time.

Lots of plastic bits which speaks to many nerds with a fantastic production and multifaceted rules that keep even the same group of players finding new things.
