Advent Calendars have improved tremendously over the last fifteen years. Gone are the days of retro cardboard calendars and even the Chocolate calendars of our youth. Nowadays there's a Christmas Countdown for everyone; from dice to soft toy lovers. The Chaos Cards website, as well as the Tabletop Store in Folkestone have a wide array of Advent Calendars available this year, ranging from Lego, to Funko Pop and even Squishmallows! A fairly new addition to the roster of Christmas Countdowns are the Thames and Kosmos Exit Advent Calendars.

The Exit Advent Calendar is a great ‘at home’ recreation of an Escape Room. The 2024 calendar comes with all the clues needed to solve the case of the missing Film Star. (It is worth mentioning that it might be handy to have some scissors, a pen and a torch to hand, as these will be invaluable tools throughout the case!) Obviously, we wouldn't want to ruin anyone's enjoyment of the mystery of the missing Hollywood Star, so we will keep this post spoiler-free! Just imagine you are a Pizza Delivery driver and pretty dissatisfied with work, and then you come across a deserted Film Studio… Can you solve the clues to solve the mystery and save the Blockbuster in time for a Christmas release? Sounds pretty fun to us! Every day starts with a small snippet of the story which ‘sets the stage’ for the riddle of the day. Each task lasts about ten minutes which is a perfect amount of time to fit into that busy Christmas rush we all experience at this time of year. There’s even a handy hint book for the days you might find yourself a little more ‘stumped’ than others.

Hollywood is Calling!

The Exit Advent Calendars are proving a big hit amongst many people here at Team Chaos, and this year's mystery makes no exception. It’s fun and different to the other types of calendars that exist. We love the concept of cracking codes and the idea that you can work with family and friends to solve the mystery. The mystery includes a nice mix of logic puzzles, riddles and some puzzles that require you to use abstract thinking. One really enjoyable thing is that there is one central theme running throughout the calendar, with each day acting like a chapter in an adventure story.

The Chaos Cards team think this year's advent calendar is perfect for the run-up to Christmas, in fact, we firmly believe it will quite easily become part of our Christmas traditions. We like that the calendar can be a fun, family or friends activity or one to solve on your own. It's a perfect introduction to the Exit games range as well, and if the advent calendar piques your interest then head over to the Chaos Cards website where we stock a wide variety of the Thames and Kosmos games.

Have you considered solving the case of The Missing Hollywood Star for your Christmas countdown this year? Do let us know whether you solved the mystery of The Ice Cave or The Silent Storm in previous years, what did you think? Do let us know over on our socials :)
